About The Cambridge Math Circle (CMC)
CMC is a fast-growing alternative math enrichment program serving children in grades K-8 in the Greater Boston area whose families need math support outside the classroom and cannot afford private, traditional STEM programs. We offer a successful series of in-person and online classes emphasizing logical reasoning and creative problem solving, including in-school and after-school programs at Cambridge Public Schools, community-based weekend classes, and more. Four years ago, we served 25 students per week. Now we serve more than 450 every week! For more information about CMC, visit us at www.cambridgemathcircle.org.
About CMC’s Fall Math Classes
CMC’s fall math classes are designed to provide fun, recreational math enrichment activities that stimulate all students’ growth and development—in math and everywhere else. Our in-person Math Circle classes use CMC’s original, unique approach (developed by our founders, Mira Bernstein and Nataliya Yufa). We teach math by allowing students to explore complex, beautiful math that they don’t typically encounter in school by playing games, solving puzzles, and participating in building challenges and other activities. CMC’s online Preparatory Math classes use material from Beast Academy and The Art of Problem Solving to reinforce and preview the school math curriculum, with the support of CMC teachers that run the classes.
As with all CMC programs, our staff and Executive Director have made special effort to develop academically appropriate and challenging activities that engage and excite all of our students. Our program also supports students’ long-term social and emotional wellbeing by providing them a safe, inclusive space to interact with other like-minded children.
